They can enter your computer either via internet or any removable media so you must install a highly effective antivirus and update it regularly. Too many programs that launch at startup make the booting process slow. So, remove all unnecessary programs using the command msconfig and then selecting the startup tab. Although do not mess around unnecessarily. Next, when you store some data, the data is stored in clusters at different places on your disk. The intermediate space goes waste and gradually the computer becomes slow due to memory shortage. So use the disk defragmenter that places this data together, freeing a lot of memory.
